The Paisley Shopping Centre
Introduction

Opened in 1992 by the late Princess Diana, The Paisley Centre occupies an historic town centre site. The High Street entrance features the façade of a 1930’s cinema and retains listed status as an important historical building.

Paisley has produced its fair share of the famous and celebrated amongst its ‘buddies’. These include disco diva Kelly Marie, David Tenant, Gerry Rafferty & Andrew Neil. It is rumoured that Ronald Regan’s forefathers were Paisley weavers, and there are even links to Elvis Presley!

In the late 70’s Paisley was the centre of the Scottish Punk Rock explosion, playing host to all of the groups of the time at the legendary Bungalow Bar. This tradition has carried on with a wide range of pub & club venues showcasing the latest cutting edge talents and youth culture remaining prevalent in the towns make-up

The centre was upgraded in 2006 with the installation of new toilet facilities, enhanced mall lighting and new décor throughout and provides a modern covered shopping environment over three shopping levels.

Built on top of an historic graveyard, it is rumoured that the centre has a resident ghost! The ghoul like figure has been spotted on a number of occasions, the most recent of which was actually caught on CCTV!

As the birth town of the current Dr Who, it is somewhat fitting that the centre is thought to have experienced a visit from another planet, resulting in the much publicised crop circle style markings on the roof area.

This was reported in the excellent local news paper the Paisley daily Express, and we have included some of the stories in this web site.

The Paisley Centre extends a huge welcome to all of our visitors, and we hope you enjoy your time with us and look forward to your return!
